E-File your Tax Returns for Free...

What:     Local attorneys and law students are volunteering to assist qualified participants in E-FILING their federal and state tax returns at our tax preparation assistance clinic.  BancorpSouth® representatives will be on site to open accounts for direct deposit.

Price   FREE to qualified participants!

When:    Saturdays, February 3, 10, 17, 24 and March 3, 10

Where:  Mission First Legal Aid Office, 275 Roseneath Street (located on the corner of Second Avenue & Roseneath Street in West Jackson)

Why:       It’s absolutely FREE.  E-FILE allows you to receive your refund faster than paper returns.  We will assist you in preparing your return using our computers at Mission First Legal Aid Office.

 

Who Qualifies for FREE Assistance…

To qualify for assistance in preparing your return, you must meet ONE of the following:

  1. Qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit
  2. Adjusted Gross Income less than $27,500
  3. Active Duty Military

Taxpayers who receive K-1’s, 1099-Misc, earnings from the sale of stock, or earnings from self-employment will not qualify for our assistance.

 

What to bring to prepare your taxes…

REQUIRED Personal Information

  • 2005 Federal and State Returns
  • Social Security Card for taxpayer
  • Additional form of identification for taxpayers
    (Drivers License, State Issued Identification, etc.)
  • Social Security Card for each dependent **
  • Date of Birth for spouse and dependents
  • Checking or Savings Account Number and Routing Number***

Income Documentation—Sample listing

  • W-2 (Wages & Salaries, tips)
  • 1099-G (Unemployment compensation)
  • 1099-G (State income tax refunds, gambling earnings)
  • 1099-Int, 1099-Div (Interest & Dividends)
  • 1099-R (Social Security, Retirement Income)
  • 1099-Misc (Business Income, Independent Contractors, etc)
  • Other Income (Jury duty, Alimony, etc.)

Deduction Documentation—Sample listing

  • Qualified Childcare Expenses & Facility/Provider Employment Identification Number or Social Security Number
  • 1098-T (Educational Expenses)
  • 1098-E (Student Loan Interest)
  • Other Deduction Documentation

**We cannot file returns using ITINs  (Taxpayer Identification Numbers) that have been issued to a taxpayer, spouse, or dependent.  Social Security Numbers are the only official identification numbers
that may be used.
