The admission policies for the Law School are established annually by the faculty. As at any law school, the undergraduate grade point average and LSAT score are important elements of the evaluation. However, we also give significant weight to an applicant's personal statement, recommendations, employment history, military service, graduate work, activities, community service and personal circumstances. These factors play a decisive role in our admissions process. In addition to demonstrating academic potential, these factors help the Admissions Committee identify applicants who bring diverse perspectives and experiences to our academic community.

A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university is required and confirmation is necessary before registration. Each applicant must have taken the Law School Admissions test (LSAT) within three years of application to MCSOL; scores older than three years will not be considered.

In addition, you are required to subscribe to the Law School Data Assembly Service (LSDAS) Report. The LSDAS Report is sent to the law school upon request and includes an undergraduate transcript summary, copies of all undergraduate and graduate transcripts, LSAT scores, and a copy of the LSAT writing sample.

The LSAT/LSDAS Registration and Information Book is available at most undergraduate schools or may be obtained directly from Law Services: LSAT/LSDAS, Box 2000, Newtown, PA 18949. The phone number is 215.968.1001 and the email address is lsacinfo@lsac.org .

Application Timetable

The deadline for applying for the 2008-2009 academic year is June 1, 2008.

Application Procedures

In order for an applicant to be considered by the Admissions Committee, the individual's file must be complete with the following required documents.

  • A completed, signed and dated application
  • A personal statement
  • A LSAT/LSDAS Report
  • The appropriate application fee

Review Process

Decisions are made on a rolling basis. Completed applications are reviewed beginning in December. Each applicant is notified of the Admissions Committee's decision by letter.

Interviews

Personal Interviews are not a required part of the application process. However, applicants are encouraged to visit the school. With advance notice, opportunities are available to attend classes and meet with students and faculty members. Please call the Admissions Office at 601.925.7152 to schedule a visit.

Letters of Recommendation

Letters of recommendation are not required, but can be effective in enhancing the application. We particularly encourage evaluations and recommendations by persons who are familiar with your academic ability or work performance. MCSOL will accept recommendations that are either sent directly to the Admissions Office or received through the LSDAS Letter of Recommendation Service.

Deposits

Applicants who have been accepted are required to pay a $250 deposit by April 1 or within two weeks of notification of acceptance, whichever is later. However, in order to assure a place in the entering class, the deposit may be sent immediately after acceptance. A second deposit of $250 must be received by June 1. The total $500 deposit is non-refundable but is credited toward tuition.
