
Limited Practice Externships (3L students only)
The Law Student Limited Practice Act, Miss. Code Ann. § 73-3-207 provides in pertinent part: “ A law student enrolled in a legal internship program . . . is authorized to engage in limited practice in the courts of this state . . . Law students may appear and participate in trials and hearings in courts if the supervising attorney is present and supervising the student.” The statute applies to "law student[s] regularly enrolled in a law school in this state who (i) if enrolled and assigned in a legal internship program, [have] completed two-thirds (2/3) of the required number of hours for graduation from that school . . . .” Miss. Code Ann. § 73-3-205(a)(i).
The following Externships include a limited practice component, in which a 3L law student may be sworn in for limited practice under the supervision of a licensed attorney. These Externships are not available to 2L students. Externships marked with a * can involve significant court time.
